Brittens Music in partnership with The Amelia Scott and RTW Together are putting on a day of musical fun!

Sunday 3rd September - At The Amelia Scott - Atrium

10:00am to 4:00pm - Instrument Try-Out
10:30am to 3:00pm - Colourstrings
6:00pm to 7:00pm - Summer Music Recital

Brittens Music Instrument Try-Out Day at The Amelia

We are running one of our popular instrument try-out days at The Amelia Scott. So join us throughout the day to come and try an instrument.

From strings to brass , the team will have a collection of musical instruments for you to explore and play, offering their expert guidance to help you hit the right notes. From first time musicians to virtuoso, young and mature, all are welcome.

Colourstrings 

And for the little ones, there will be free drop-in 'Colourstrings' music group taster sessions for our fun music classes suitable for children aged 6 months to 7 years!

So do come along throughout the day and speak to us about Colourstrings classes, and how they can help build the musical foundation for your child to learn music as they grow and nurture their musicality.

Session One:
10:30am - 11:am - Under 3 years. 
11:15am - 11:45am 3 to 5 years 
Session Two:
12.30pm - 1pm - Under 3 years
1:15pm - 1:45pm - 3 to 5 years
Session Three:
2:30pm - 3pm - Folk style song and circle dance time. All ages welcome.

 

Summer Music Recital 6pm - 7pm

Join us for an evening of classical music at The Amelia Scott, supported by RTW together.

The programme will open with Kim Thornwell, senior staff member at Brittens Music, performing The Swan by Camille Saint-Saëns on the Euphonium, with piano accompaniment.

Mezzo Soprano Kathryn Hannah will follow with songs from Bizet's Carmen including Prés des Remperts de Seville and the famous Habańera.

To headline the evening, award-winning violinist Fenella Humphreys will delight and entertain with performances of Cyril Scott - Bumble Bees, Claude Debussy - Girl with the Flaxen Hair, Robert Schumann - Trämerei, Mancini/Mercer - Moon River, JS Bach - Violin Partita no.3 in Emajor, Gavotte en Rondeau, and Seonaid Aitken - The Mad Piper.

The programme is suitable for all age groups and musical tastes.
