Covid Guidelines for Face to Face Exams June / July 2021
Posted by Brittens Team on
Our Music School (situated above the shop) will be open for Music Exams - starting on Monday 7th June. The Brittens Music shop, downstairs, will be open Tuesday to Saturdays from 10am although we are currently closed on Mondays.
Candidates are asked to enter the one way system to the Music School via the doors to the LEFT of the shop front entrance (under the RUSSELL HOUSE sign). The door will be open, please do not ring the bell. We will be operating a 1-2m social distancing rule so please give people space on the stairway up.
Everyone entering the exam centre will be required to sanitise their hands and wear masks. (except children under 11).
All adults, teachers and accompanists please check in to Track and Trace with their mobile phone.
One parent/guardian/teacher may accompany a child to the warm up room, but will have to leave the music school whilst the exam takes place - we have no waiting area in the music school. You are welcome to wait in the shop (with mask) or the bottom of the side stairwell.
We will have 2 warm up rooms in operation. Our largest warm up room will be reserved for wind, brass and singing candidates - it contains a piano, music stand, perspex screen. The second, smaller warm up room has a piano, music stand. Windows will be open in all warm up rooms.
There will also be a 6ft perspex screen in the exam room along with two pianos (one is for the Examiner to use for Aural Tests). Accompanists will be required to wear a mask in the exam room but candidates can remove their mask for the duration of the exam. Windows will be open in the exam room.
Pianos, door handles, seat handles and music stands will be cleaned between use - but please refrain from touching anything unnecessarily.
Everyone is to wear a mask (except primary school age children). Please ensure your mask is on when moving around in communal areas. You are welcome to go into the shop before and after your exam.
Please do not come to the exam centre if you are feeling unwell. To cancel your exam, please contact us.
Best of luck to all the candidates!
