Taking a multi-key approach to teaching, the Bastien Piano Basics Series of Books is a course that uses a carefully graded, logical learning sequence to develop steady, regular progress and is designed for 7 to 11 year olds.

With original music in a mixture of pop, folk, classical and contemporary styles, there are full colour illustrations throughout that help reinforce the concepts and teaching along the way. The Primer book (this book) introduces students to the course with plenty of musical examples, simple instructions, illustrations and help, to get underway.

The multi-key approach takes students through all 12 keys, covering 3 keys in each book, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 (Other Level Books available separately).
